A gift for the holidays
Give someone their book
Print a card that says you’d like to pay for their book. If they say yes, you choose a writer together, and nothing is paid until a contract is signed.

I’d like to pay for your book.
You tell the stories. A professional writer puts them on paper, in your voice. We’ll choose the writer together.

Change anything you like. A name left empty prints as a line for your pen.
A ghostwritten memoir generally costs between $15,000 and $80,000, so read Before you promise first.
It prints at 5 by 7 inches, the size of a standard greeting card, so cut around the edge. What you type stays on your screen. We don’t see it or keep it.
If they say yes
- 01Look at the writers together. Every profile and sample can be read without an account.
- 02Decide whose name goes on the contract, before either of you writes to anyone.
- 03That person writes to a writer. The writer sends a contract with a fixed total, split into stages.
- 04The book is paid for one stage at a time, and each payment is held until the client approves the pages.
Before you promise
How much does a ghostwritten memoir cost?
A ghostwritten memoir or business book generally costs between $15,000 and $80,000, and writers with famous books behind them charge six figures.
It doesn’t have to start with the whole book. Many writers offer a paid book plan as a smaller first contract, and that can be the gift on its own. What a ghostwriter costs →
Who signs the contract, you or the person whose book it is?
One of you. Whoever writes to the writer from their account is the client, and the contract is between the client and the writer. The client pays each stage, approves the pages, sees every draft, and owns the book as each stage’s payment is released.
If they sign, the book is theirs and they pay each stage, and how you cover that is between the two of you. If you sign, you pay, and the book and its drafts are yours. A member of our team can talk it through with you for free. Ask for a call →
Is this a gift card?
No. There’s no code, no balance and nothing to redeem. It’s a promise from you to them, and we don’t take any money for it.
What if they say no?
Then that’s the end of it. Nothing has been paid, so there’s nothing to get back.
If they say yes and change their mind later, either side can walk away before the first stage is paid, and the client can stop at any time after that. Nothing is owed for a stage that hasn’t been paid. Money already released to the writer stays with the writer.
If someone gave you this card
It means they’d like to see your stories in a book, and they’d like to pay for it. Nothing has been paid and nothing has been arranged, so take your time. You can read what the writers here have done, talk to a member of our team for free, or say no thank you.
